Review of Bluetooth-headset Sony Ericsson IV 835

A headset without an earloop: does it keep on the ear? Does it stand on the market? There are less and less chances to create an absolutely new headset, but the developers as yet manage to diversify the market.

For example, the devices without a loop still seem to be unusual and interesting. Today we have one of them to check out.
Meet the Sony Ericsson IV 835.

Sales package. Besides the headset we found in the box an additional rubberized plate and a charger. There are also a black stripe and a special plug to join the headset with an accessory.

Design. From one side the Sony Ericsson IV 835 looks like a small heel.

The front panel is made of black glossy plastic. The material looks effective and fine, especially in the sunlight. On the panel we see a company logo, as well as a metal multi-functional key, the latter we took at first as the volume rocker key.

When we realized its purpose, it became obvious, that we have the headset without volume control. It is fixed automatically. The panel is framed in a metal edge of the same colour.

The rear surface is black, made of dull plastic. It houses a rather big rise with a loudspeaker and beneath there is a microphone in a special insert.

On the bottom edge we see a charger hole, that doubles up for a plug hole and power button.

By the way there is a common stripe hole as well.
On the ear the Sony Ericsson IV 835 looks elegant.

Control features of the Sony Ericsson IV 835. The main feature of the headset is the lack of the earloop. Consequently, there are several important moments: firstly, you can wear the headset both on the left ear and on the right one without changes; secondly, for the firm fastening you have to plug the stage deep in the ear; thirdly, you’d better right away fix the stripe in order to protect the device. Everything can be. If there were an earloop, it would protect the headset, but without it the accessory can easily fall on the ground. And it is good, if you manage to notice it. But the device is so light (only 9g), that you don’t feel it on the ear.

Of course the stripe doesn’t look so cool, with it you resemble a serious teacher or a cashier wearing glasses on the stripe. But still it guarantees against loosing you hands-free. Therewith in this case the stripe is long enough, not to be pulled away the neck during a call.

Another interesting feature is that, there is no volume control. If you had another headset before the Sony Ericsson, you are likely to press the long multi-functional key taking it as the volume button. But it is useless, as it controls the other functions. The volume is adjusted by the processor automatically. Don’t worry about it.

Work quality. The audibility often depends on how well you place the headset. If you press it deep in the acoustic meatus, as you understand, you can’t hear well. On the other hand, when pressing the only button, you press the headset as well. So don’t be surprised, when you notice the sound changes. You just should get used to the device. Personally we didn’t have problems with it. But… as a secret, ear is very tender and sensitive. To someone the audibility might seem to be poor. In other respects everything is good. The battery lasted prescribed 3 hours and covered the distance of 7 metres. To charge it we needed about 2 hours.

Targeted audience of the Sony Ericsson IV 835. The accessory is obviously trendy, that’s way we can exactly name its targeted audience. It is young people that are anxious about their appearance. They can sometimes sacrifice their comfort to a trendy gadget. It is the same story as with the stiletto heeled shoes – to wear them is enormously uncomfortable, but it looks wonderful!

And those, who are crazy about their style, are likely to spend 80$ on the headset.

Specifications of the headset Sony Ericsson IV 835:

  • Weight: 9g

  • Dimensions: 60x12x14mm

  • Work distance: up to 10m

  • Battery life: up to 4 hours in talk mode, up to 160 hours in standby mode

  • Connectivity; Bluetooth 2.0

  • Street price: approx 2000 rub/77$

Conclusion. So we have the interesting model that stands out of all Bluetooth-devices. The austere streamlined glossy casing looks very expensive and luxurious and commands respect. The lack of the earloop gives a polish, as well as possible discomfort. That’s way it is up to you what to prefer: design or comfort.

Advantages

  • Stylish design

Disadvantages

  • The automatic volume control can be uncomfortable.
